Enjoy Bishopsteignton

Eat, Drink, Stay at the Cockhaven Arms

The Cockhaven Arms is located in the quiet village of Bishopsteignton, at the foot of Haldon Moor and overlooking the lovely Teign Estuary. Following extensive refurbishment, it re-opened its doors in April 2016.

Whether you are staying with us or just popping in for a drink, snack or meal, you will find a warm welcome in peaceful and comfortable surroundings.

Afternoon lunch at Old Walls Vineyard

The south facing slopes and well-drained soil that we enjoy at Old Walls were once enjoyed by Roman winemakers of the past.

The remnants of the 13th century Bishops Palace serve as the inspiration for ‘Old Walls’; a namesake steeped in history.

We are proud to continue a 2000 year legacy of traditional British winemaking.

Head up for a Beer at the Old Workshop

Based in a quiet corner of sleepy south Devon, nestled in the hills outside Bishopsteignton, we make our extensive range of traditional cask real ales, using not only the finest natural ingredients but also the farm’s pure spring water. It is this that gives our beers their individual characters.

Garden Cottage Bishopsteignton

The Ring of Bells in Bishopsteignton. Recently Re-opened.

At The Old Commercial Inn we are working towards reducing our impact on the environment.  We source as much of our food as possible from local suppliers, including meat and pies from G T Orsman (Shaldon), G Redfern & Sons butchers (Teignmouth) and Clive’s Pies from nearby Buckfastleigh.  We currently offer Devon Red cider from Sandford Orchards of Crediton and Salcombe Gin. We are pleased to offer Dartmoor Brewery’s Legend and Jail and Palmers Colmers and Copper, as well as Quantock Wills Neck, Quantock Ale and QPA (subject to availability).

We prefer to avoid using plastic wherever possible and choose products and suppliers who support our ethos, such as the beautiful, vintage, returnable soda syphons from Hartridges you will find on the bar and we offer paper straws on request.

Let us know if you can help us on our plastic-free journey as we are always open to suggestions for local products and services.
