Probus – Icing on the cake

Bishopsteignton Probus Club member, Geoff Howarth, was recently presented with a special award celebrating his status as the longest serving former club chairman.  He was chairman from 2002 to 2004 and prior to that he was the club secretary.

Chairman Baz Carpenter congratulated Geoff. On his service to the club which has earnt him free lifetime membership.  The chairman said that not only does this represent members’ respect and appreciation for his service, but he will now save money because of his free membership.

Geoff Said he regularly attends Probus Club meetings because of the fellowship it offers and the programme of excellent speakers, visits and meals, adding that this honour is the icing on the cake for him.  When briefing the club’s Press Officer, Dr. Nigel Darby, Geoff commented glowingly on past and present members who make it such a wonderful club and commented on some excellent meals, very interesting trips over the years and how entertaining and thoroughly knowledgeable the speakers have been.
