Bishopsteignton Art Group May 2019 Exhibition
Talent on show at the 35th Annual Bishopsteignton Art Group Exhibition
The Group’s annual Exhibition is at the Community Centre on Saturday May 25 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday May 26 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and many of the exhibits, and greetings cards, will be for sale. Two galleries of exciting original artwork in a variety of styles and media will be on show. A private viewing will be held on Friday May 23, when the exhibits are judged, and prizes awarded.
This year’s judge is acclaimed local artist Rosemary Ensor who regularly participates in the Devon Artists Network Open Studios scheme. Rosemary has taught art for many years but now concentrates on her own creativity. She paints abstracts in acrylics and oil, with occasional collage and draws her inspiration from life drawings and the natural world. Her paintings vary considerably in size; the interaction between size, shape, colour and texture provides her with endless exciting challenges. Examples of Rosemary’s artwork can be seen in the “Judges Corner” throughout the exhibition.
Members of Bishopsteignton Art Group get together to paint and draw on Tuesday afternoons in the Community Centre. They also hold all-day workshops and demonstrations, often given by renowned professional artists such as Jake Winkle and David Norman. The atmosphere is always informal, friendly and relaxed. New members of any skill level are most welcome. A free ‘taster’ session is offered to those who would like to see if the Group is for them. See www.bishopsteigntonartgroup.com for more details.
