Bishopsteignton Village Festival 2019
We hope you enjoyed the new format of this year’s Festival and were able to attend some of the events on offer during the week. Of course the culmination of the Festival was three days on the village green when, huge sigh of relief, the weather took a turn for the better and we were able to enjoybeing out and about in glorious sunshine.
On Thursday and Friday the children from the primary school came across to the marquees to take part in a huge variety of workshops, from circus skills to pottery, taekwondo, water-rocket launching and puppet making. On Friday afternoon they entertained their families with some of their newly acquired skills in a packed main marquee.
As ever, you turned out in force to support the Festival and we were delighted to see you on the village green. The BBQ served just short of 1000 burgers and hot dogs, and the queues for Kumbites and the Nippy Chippy on Friday, and Goierri Foods and Teign Canteen on Saturday were proof that you enjoyed the street food on offer. Everyone sold out! Staff from the Ring of Bells, the Old Commercial Inn and the Cockhaven ran an excellent beer tent and worked extremely hard to avoid long queues.
The committee would like to thank everyone who took part in the Festival, from our wonderful band of volunteers to the organisers of this year’s bigger and better Arts and Crafts area, the ladies who ran the café, the burger flippers who may now be suffering from RSI, the musicians who entertained usall around the village, Historia Normannis for their re-enactment, the Exotic Secrets (!), the leaders of both school and adult workshops, stallholders at the fair, organisers of our popular dog show and everyone else who helped in any way. You are too numerous to mention but your contributionhelped to make it a most enjoyable event and we are very grateful to you.
Finally, thank you to all of you who just came along to enjoy the sunshine and the entertainment – it wouldn’t have been the same without you!
